NRL live updates: Titans face Broncos in Queensland showdown, Storm host Dragons, Sharks face Rabbitohs
Brisbane and Gold Coast’s finals hopes will go on the line when the two sides meet in Round 22 of the NRL season.
While the Broncos and Titans are both losing ground on the top eight, the winner of Saturday’s clash will still be a mathematical chance of playing finals. The loser, meanwhile, can start planning for 2025.
Later, top-of-the-table Melbourne will host St George Illawarra before Cronulla look to get back on track when they play the injury-hit Rabbitohs.

Injury: Payne Haas
Some massive news coming out of the Broncos – Payne Haas has been ruled out of this game with a foot injury. He hurt it in the warm up and aggravated it with his first run, that’s a massive out for the Broncos.
An update has just come through from Lara Pitt of Fox League – Brisbane are fearing it could be a linsfrac injury, which would be season over for Haas. He’s already on the sideline with a moon boot.
Halftime: Broncos 18 lead Titans 10
An action-packed first half with plenty of drama – Kini will stay off for the first seven minutes of the second half while Haas and Mam both look done for the afternoon due to injury.
Injury: Ezra Mam
The Broncos five-eighth was dragged down by Kini off the ball and he’s hurt his ankle. It got twisted underneath him and he’s being assisted from the field – looks like Brisbane are down to 15.
Mozer comes on, so Walters will move to five-eighth for the second half.
37′ Kini binned for professional foul
Kelly goes for a bizarre kick on the first tackle on his own 30 and Arthars cleans it up to put Brisbane back on the attack.
Mam kicks for himself and gets tackled off the ball by Kini, this should be a penalty at the very least – perhaps a sin bin as well? Yup, the Bunker says it is and Kini goes for ten.
Brisbane take the two and Reynolds extends the lead to 18-10.
35′ Reynolds creates one for Hetherington
An offside penalty puts Brisbane on the attack and Reynolds forces a drop out with a smart kick that was aimed for Arthars.
Reynolds puts in another nice kick, a grubber this time, and Hetherington is on hand to get their first and score! Brisbane are back but Reynolds misses the simple conversion! It’s 16-10 Broncos.
28′ Kini strikes again as Titans cross
It’s Kini again and again it’s down that right edge – Foran connects with Kini, he slides past Mariner and Mam and draws Walsh before connecting with Fifita who scores! It’s a real fullback duel out there today, terrific stuff.
Campbell sneaks the kick in and it’s back to 12-10.
20′ Titans strike back through Kini
Gold Coast are on the board – they sweep it down the right, Fifita takes off down the wing, he comes to Walsh who flies through the air to try and block a pass that never comes – Mam gets him in cover but can’t lock up the ball and Kini backs up on the inside to score! Great try.
Campbell misses the kick but the Titans are on the board and it’s 12-4.
More drama though as Fifita puts down the kick off! Brisbane back on the attack.
15′ Walsh gets a double in remarkable fashion
The Broncos fullback is on one today! He’s got his second, this time as he puts up a bomb, chases it through and flies high over Kini ti take it and score! Brilliant stuff!
Reynolds converts and it’s 12-0 Broncos .
12′ Walsh opens the scoring with a screamer
An offside penalty gets the Broncos out of their own end and on the attack.
On the second tackle, Walsh latches onto a Carrigan offload, flies into space, grubbers for himself and gets it back to score a brilliant individual try! That’s Walsh at his absolute best!
There’s some conjecture over Carrigan, whether he’s taken out a defender as he offloaded, but the try stands – correctly, in my eyes.
Reynolds converts and Brisbane lead 6-0.
7′ Titans on the attack early, lose their challenge
The Titans force a drop out, there’s a comedy of errors near the sideline, it’s ruled a Broncos knock-on but they challenge it – it’s inconclusive, so the ruling stands and they’ll retain their challenge.
On the ensuing set, a Titans pass goes over the sideline but it went off Oates – the Titans challenge, but the Bunker rules Oates didn’t play at it. Challenge gone for the Titans.
Kick-off on the Gold Coast!
