Para cycling road: Darren Hicks in 2nd at 5.8km
Australia’s Darren Hicks time of 6:58.90 was the second fastest at 5.8km mark in the men’s C2 time trial.
He was 3.05 off the race’s leader, Belgium’s Ewoud Vromant.
Hicks, the reigning gold medallist, was the last to enter the race – so this one will go down to the wire.
Para cycling: MEG LEMON TAKES SILVER
Australia’s Meg Lemon has taken silver in the women’s C4 time trial with a time of 21:44.16!
It was a great back end of the race from her.
Emily Petricola also put in a solid ride but fell just short of the podium.
The track gold medallist’s time of 21:48.44 was about four seconds off Switzerland’s Franziska Matile-Doerig in third.
American Samantha Bosco took gold with a time of 21:39.24.

Para cycling road: Petricola in first
Emily Petricola has finished her race and, for the moment anyway, sits on top of the standings!
Still quite a few cyclists to finish, but that was a great ride from Petricola.
Her time was 21:48.44.

Para cycling: Hicks begins C2 time trial
Australian Darren Hicks is the final athlete to enter the race.
The reigning gold medallist is a red-hot favourite for this one.

Para cycling road: Petricola 3rd, Lemon 4th at 5.8km
Australia’s Emily Petricola and Meg Lemon have both made strong starts to the C4 time trial.
Petricola’s time of 7:47.97 is good enough for 3rd, about 14 seconds off leader Franziska Matile-Doerig of Switzerland.
Para cycling road: BRONZE FOR FORSTER!
Australia’s Alana Forster has finished in third in the women’s time trial C5!
Great ride from Forster, finishing with a time of 21:00.48.
The two cyclists ahead of her were absolutely scorching.
Great Britain’s Sarah Storey won gold with a time of 20:22.15, just 4.69 seconds in front of Heidi Gaugain of France.
Storey is a true titan of the sport. It’s her thirteenth gold medal in para cycling.

France’s Heidi Gaugain has really thrown down the gauntlet to the rest of the field.
She finishes her road race with a time of 20:26.84.
Gaugain is a time trial monster. This will be a very hard time for anyone to beat.
Australia’s Alana Forster is one of two riders left to finish.

Australia’s other rider in the C4 time trial, Meg Lemon has begun joined Petricola on the road.
The last athlete to enter, USA’s Shawn Morelli is about to begin.

Fresh off her stunning gold at the velodrome, Australia’s Emily Petricola begins her road cycling campaign in the C4 individual time trial.
She’s fourth to get underway and is a real contender in this event.

She sits in third with 7:38.57.
She has some time to make up though.

Para cycling road: Classifications
Australia’s Alana Forster looks to have made a solid start in her C5 time trial.
The C5 race is for athletes with the lowest level of impairment of any of the cycling classes at a Paralympics.
The C stands for cycling, with the C1 class being the highest level of impairment for athletes who compete on standard bikes.

Australia’s Alana Forster is off and away in the first time trial even of the day and the first road cycling event of Paris 2024.
She was 7th to begin, with only Sarah Storey of Great Britain left to take off.

Para cycling road: 19 gold medals up for grab
Woah.
To say the road cycling is beginning in earnest might be an understatement.
14.2km separates our Aussie competitors with one of the 19 gold medals being awarded today.
Alana Forster is a up 7th in the C5 and Meg Lemon is 6th and Emily Petricola 4th in the C4.
